From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
